What is your primary product or service?
We offer the best and most experience one on one tutoring (Pre K-12th grade) in Salt Lake City. We work with parents, teachers, and students to ensure success. We tutor in math, reading, writing, spelling, science, study skills, test preparation, and organizational skills. As an added bonus, we specialize in learning disabilities, ADHD, and cognitive struggles. We also tutor ACT/SAT preparation and offer free practice tests. Of course, challenging enrichment is always available.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Nancy Williams graduated from the University of Utah in 1987 with BS degree in Elementary Education. She spent 7 years working for Dr. Sam Goldstein and David Nillson at the Neurology, Learning, and Behavior Center in Salt Lake City. During that time, she became an expert in working with kids who were challenged with ADHD, learning disabilities, and brain injuries She also amassed valuable experience in working with kids who just needed a boost in school due to being disorganized, not understanding concepts, and in tutoring kids in math, reading, writing, and spelling. Independent learning and succeeding in school is the key. Nancy then tutored out of her home from 1992-2000. Now she has a beautiful space (Thorup Tutoring) in the heart of Holladay; she employs about 20 tutors and she and her team work with about 170 kids per week. Nancy was also the elementary/middle school education specialist in the nationally promoted DVD series of "Where There's a Will There's an A."
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Not only do we have tutors who can tutor Pre K-College in all subject areas, but the director and many of her tutors have experience with ADHD and learning disabilities. We know how to work with the school to create IEP's and 504 plans. We also work with the school to ensure that high school kids are on target to graduate.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one location in Holladay. We can also tutor at your home, at a library, or at a school for an extra fee. We have no plans to expand; we love keeping the superior quality of our product
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards

We service Utah County, Salt Lake County, Davis County, and Summitt County

We are open every day, including weekends upon requests. Typical hours are 9 am -9 pm

The best compliment anyone can give me is that I truly care about their kids. I make a difference in their kids' lives!
